LT/LCBS Bus Garages
I well recall how LT struggled with availability of rear engine buses during 1979. Scenes like this in Hanwell Garage on 1 March 1979 were replicated in garages across the fleet with many DMS`s being long term casualties before being put back into service such as these: DMS 1955, 1944 and DM 1197.
RMA 12 became a Staff Bus having previously been one of those used in passenger service on the 175`s a couple of years before. It still carries the NS garage code from that time and has - as a non-original airport Routemaster feature - the route number box under the front canopy fitted in the absence of `proper` front destination boxes.
