Aldenham Bus Overhaul Works
To follow on from my uploaded picture yesterday, here`s RM 192 with body B6 being given a non-dismount overhaul. This is happening at the same time as RM 6 with body B159 is being similarly treated and that enabled a `renumbering` to allow body B6 to gain the bonnet number RM 6 - even though by this time body lift overhauls had ceased and with it the facility to achieve continuous taxation by transferring bonnet numbers between buses.
My hope was that both RM 6 and RM 192 could be photographed together to record the last instance of a bonnet number swap but it wasn`t to be. When I took this picture on 22 August 1984 the two buses were in different parts of the building. Something that I thought was very noticeable once non-dismount overhauls became established was just how untidy the area around each bus usually was when so many tasks were being undertaken concurrently as opposed to being done in a certain order as before.
