John Augustus Roebling was the designer of the Roebling Bridge in Cincinnati. Originally this bridge was called the Cincinnati-Covington Bridge and served as a prototype for a longer span (1,595 feet) connecting Brooklyn and Manhattan in New York called the Brooklyn Bridge. The Brooklyn Bridge cost John Augustus Roebling his life due a mishap while inspecting progress.
