Karlsburg Castle in the municipality of Karlsburg in the state of Western Pomerania in the federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is a baroque-style manor house built from 1731 onwards as a three-storey brick building. It was owned by the noble family of Bismarck-Bohlen until 1945 and was then part of the Central Institute for Diabetes in Karlsburg until 1990. Since then, it has belonged to the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The building was administered by the University of Greifswald until 2016. The castle, which is shared by the successor institutions of the Central Institute, is considered both a landmark of Karlsburg and of the medical and scientific institutions located in the town.
