se nourrit principalement d'invertébrés et de vers de terre, mais aussi de petits mammifères et d'oiseaux, ainsi que d'amphibiens, l'aire de répartition d'origine de la chevêche d'Athéna est le bassin méditerranéen, aujourd'hui, elle est répandue dans toute l'Europe, à l'exception de l'Irlande et de la Scandinavie,

elle bénéficie d'une protection totale sur le territoire français depuis l'arrêté ministériel du 17 avril 1981 relatif aux oiseaux protégés sur l'ensemble du territoire,/

feeds mainly on invertebrates and earthworms, but also small mammals and birds, as well as amphibians, the native range of the little owl is the Mediterranean basin, today , it is widespread throughout Europe, with the exception of Ireland and Scandinavia,

it benefits from total protection on French territory since the ministerial decree of April 17, 1981 relating to birds protected throughout the territory
