Helping Hand
While not usually required for many of the Great Lakes freighters thanks to the widespread implementation of bow and stern thrusters, there’s plenty of times to catch Great Lakes Towing’s tugboats in the twin ports on a variety of jobs. In this instance, the Missouri stands ready at the Superior entry awaiting the arrival of the James R Barker. The Barker needed extra help on arrival due to an unexpected engine issue meaning she would be with only half of her engines running and greatly restricted maneuvering, so having the Missouri’s additional 2,250hp was likely greatly appreciated by the Barker’s crew.
