Westbound at Jamestown Tank

Late day on the Sierra Railroad finds the daily westbound viewed from the stub-end tracks that lead to the Jamestown Tank and the depot. The mainline is visible coming in from the left side of the image. This tracks in the foreground originally serviced the branch to Angel's Camp. In the 1960's, however, this service was some 30-years gone and the track was used for serving steam locomotives at the tank. This was the tank that inspired the TV show Petticoat Junction.
