Following a Simon and Garfunkel concert at Freeborn Hall on the UC Davis campus where I was completely blown away by the music, I had to quickly change from an audio focus to a visual one. My photography skills were being challenged by a rapidly approaching City of San Francisco in fading afternoon light. Scrambling atop a box car, I got this shot of four of the SP's venerable PAs hauling a long train with three head-end cars and an RPO. I chuckle today at the light traffic on adjacent Interstate 80. The UC Davis water tower is visible in the distance above the exhaust fan of lead Alco SP 6041.
