US Navy F-14 Tomcat Pilot (5)
The Tomcat first entered service with the US fleets in 1973 as a replacement for the Phantom. It is an all weather strike fighter capable of speeds over Mach 2 with an operational ceiling of over 50,000 ft.
The most characteristic feature of the Tomcat is the "sweep wing" feature.
Navy Tomcats have a 2 person crew comprising one pilot and tactical radar officer and the aircraft is capable of delivering 13,000 pounds including Sparrow, Sidewinder and Phoenix missiles.
Whilst not the most recent of the US carrier borne aircraft, the Tomcat is still an extremely potent unit of a carrier's firepower.*
