This is the best picture I have of this piece as it was done as a gift for someone. Although not obvious in the picture, I used the decoupage technique using sticky adhesive pads to lift certain parts of the illustration further off the paper then others. In this case, I made the bulb be furthest off the page as this is what I wanted to stand out. The illustration itself was done using Arteza real brush pens and black fineliner.
The meaning of this piece could be applied to any situation in which you are encouraged not to hide a certain aspect of yourself. Instead of wearing a lampshade and hiding it from the world, you should be brave in removing the lampshade and letting it's light shine without shame.
I'm hoping to sell prints of my Bible illustrations in the near future and this piece is definitely one I would get printed.
