The text reads:
“Fair treatment for our bin men. Time for our waste companies to clean up their act!”
Starting on June 2014 and lasting for 14 weeks, workers for the Greyhound waste company were involved in one of more bitter industrial disputes in recent times, which saw temporary labour brought in and out by bus every day to break the strike.
The dispute centred on proposed pay cuts of up to 35% with other changes to previous terms and conditions.
In September 2014 a settlement package was worked out. 52 of the 78 strikers voted to accept the deal – with 15 voting against, 10 not voting and there was one spoiled vote.
