anti-"Bus Connects" messages

At one point the already narrow residential street of Mobhi Road was designated for a underground Metro line from the city centre to the airport, a revamped Bus network lane (ahead of privatisation), and an on-street light rail line.

Local residents organised an effective campaign, part of which included yellow ribbons being placed on trees 100's of years old marked for removal.

This photo was taken at the junction of Mobhi Road, Fairfield Road and Botanic Road in Glasnevin, Dublin, Ireland

the text on the posters:

"More lanes, more traffic

A 10% increase in road capacity yields a 3 to 6 % increase in vehicle miles travelled in the short term and 6 to 10 % in the long term.”

- Susan Handy, University of California, Davis, for Caltrans, California’s Dept of Transportation, 9.30.2014

“Trees are poems that earth writes upon the sky,

We fell them down and turn them into paper,

That we may record our emptiness”

- Kahlil Gabran
