The former Parrs Bank building on the banks of the River Dane, just above its confluence with the River Weaver. Parrs Banking Company Ltd of Warrington went on through a few metamorphoses to become The National Westminster Bank or NatWest.
The building dates from 1882, but ceased to be used by the bank in 1925. After many years use of general retail use it fell into disrepair before being restored by its current owners CRS Consultants and Insurance Brokers in 1984. Amongst other things, it had sunk considerably over the years, and the wooden structure was rotten. The building was lifted by 4 feet, using the sturdy jacks from the Brine Compensation Board. This was the last building in the town to be lifted in this way.
