Fomer Yarwoods Yard
A view of the the former W. J Yarwoods shipyard in on the River Weaver at Northwich. Between 1840 and 1966, 1,000 vessels were built there.
These included coasters, tugs, river and canal boats and small military ships. Lawrence of Arabia spent time there in 1934, designing an RAF Rescue craft.
When this photo was taken in 2012 the yard was still used by British Waterways / Canal & River Trust (it changed it's name in that year), but they have now vacated the site and it has been up for sale, possibly for housing.
