PICT0057

Sunday 19th June 1983 : view from the canal at the top of the Anderton Boat Lift to the Anderton Wharf on the Weaver Navigation including the coaster Ben Veen, owned by the Isle of Man based Ramsey Shipping Company. She was one of a number of ships used for commercial traffic up the Weaver Navigation as far as Anderton at the time. Some went to the Anderton Wharf and others to the ICI Winnington Works (seen in the background). The stern of the former ICI packet James Jackson Grundy can also be seen. At the time she was being used as a floating HQ for Northwich Sea Cadets.
