Sunday 19th June 1983 : Trent and Mersey Canal Society boat gathering at Anderton Boat Lift. Former ICI packet James Jackson Grundy, being used as a floating HQ for Northwich Sea Cadets at time. She was built in 1947 by Yarwoods, just up the river at Northwich. Between 1948 and 1980 she carried soda ash from the ICI plants at Winnington and Wallerscote to Liverpool and Birkenhead docks.
Later she was sold in 2001 and following refurbishment was used from 2010 to carry imported grain from Liverpool to Sutton Mill Quay, Frodsham. Some years later she was put up for sale again, possibly for conversion to a houseboat.
