True meaning
So I went downtown this morning to shoot street pictures for a theme on JPG. What I got was much more than some decent shots. These two shots will never give justice to the moment that I lucked into witnessing.
I was shooting a worker who was riding around in a little cart, emptying trash cans and sweeping assorted rubbish off of the curbs. I was kind of hanging back and shooting candid shots, mostly because I have not worked up the courage yet to ask many strangers if I could take their picture.
Anyway, as he was doing his work, up walked an elderly homeless lady who warmly said hello to her closest neighbor. The street cleaner. She said hi, and a Merry Christmas to him and handed him a small gift. I could not see what it was, as I was trying to stay back and not spoil their moment. Who knows what the gift was, a trinket, a keepsake, a bottle cap, it did not matter.
She was a homeless woman who had nothing to give, yet gave her love and spirit to him and to me. In this picture I hope to pass that spirit and love to you. It is not the gift that matters folks. It is the love, respect, and admiration that we all need to share.
~~~Merry Christmas to you and yours~~~
