13-Day Drawing: Day 04
Over 13 days, I worked on a drawing. I did this because I hadn't drawn much with my hands in a while--I missed that. At the end of each session I scanned the results and reflected on the process.
This is DAY 04
DON’T FEAR CORRECTIONS
It will be easy and tempting to throw down bold, heavy, certain lines in the beginning, but realize that unless you are sharpened by years of experience seeing without biases, errors will come.
Errors come in inconsistencies, proportion, angles, basic structure, etc.
Self awareness and humbleness is key here. You may have reached the limit of what you can do in this moment. That’s OK. Forgive yourself for not getting perfection (or just where you want to be) on the first try.
It’s important to be conscious of when it’s the right time to step away from your work.
Take a walk. Meditate. Speak with a friend about something completely different.
When you return, new layers of clarity will reveal themselves.
