Show us an activity you enjoy doing. Tell us how you think it contributes to your personal and professional development
My goal is to point out through this photo the opportunities that sometimes give us some sports such as the ski , which in this case is my favorite and the one that I enjoy practicing the most. It is a real privilege, as it is well observed in the image, to be able to reach the top of these mountains and in the distance see the sea. It is a priceless experience.
More than an activity I really enjoy practicing, skiing is a way of life that I have been enjoying for a long time since childhood. Fortunately, in Granada (my hometown and where I've been living since I was born) it is located one of the best ski resorts in Europe known as “Estación de Esquí de Sierra Nevada”. Luckily, this has made me committed to the practice of this sport since I was little and at the moment I cant live without.
Skiing for me is a way to escape the everyday life to which one is subjected week after week. Going up to the mountain, a little small world up there where everything is happiness, good vibrations, joy and a wide range of positive attributes that describe this sport and this skiing resort. Practicing this sport has encouraged my desire to excel in this discipline, which requires the technique and dedication from the first day that someone decides to start riding. Once you learn, you just have to enjoy it. Being able to carry out this hobby today, means a quite remarkable personal development, it helps me maintaining myself in an emotional stability and tranquility that is hardly found today. It helps me to make decisions, to break with the everyday life and dedicate a few days to oneself. In short, it makes you a better person.
As to my professional development, Sierra Nevada gave me this year the opportunity to join as a volunteer the Ski and Snowboard World Championships that took place in this ski resort. I was fortunately selected for this program, and was able to enjoy that enriching experience in many aspects. I was responsible of the goal of my section (Halfpipe). I never thought that someone could rely on me such a big responsability and afterwards prometed me after seeing me working and they did it. They truly trusted me in being able to carry out this event with such importance as it has been the SN 2017 World Cup. Therefore, this has caused a great professional development in my life. I was able to work hand by hand with well known skiing and snowboarding professionals. I am very thankful of this experience, it has been great to train many different aspects of teamwork and leadership, also gave us the knowledge of how members of an event of such prestige worked, and I have highly improved my level of English.
Above all, It has been a lifetime practicing this sport and I hope to continue doing it in the future.
In labor terms, I would like to dedicate myself to this sport during sometime in the future. I would like to train professionally so that I can obtain the specific qualification to teach, and therefore to being able to work during the skiing season . There are plenty of opportunities here in Sierra Nevada and I would like to take advantage of them once I complete my master. So that the population can have the chance to know one of the most beautiful places in my city.
