1950 Studebaker Commander Regal Delux. This example is seen within the compound of American Embassy in Rome in about 1950, having just returned there on a very wet day, no doubt member of staff will soon dry, clean and polish it in readiness for its next mission.
Six seats, two doors, 3.5 litre straight-six engine giving 75 hp at 2400 rpm, paired with a column mounted change for 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
0-60 mph of 17.9 seconds, top speed 90mph, rated as getting 26.1 mpg at 30 mph, performance which did nothing to justify the jet airplane style air intake.
