Price of War
Anhalter Bahnhof was a former railway terminus in Berlin, Germany, it occupied a site approximately 600 m (2,000 ft) southeast of Potsdamer Platz. Opened on 15 June 1880, it was one of Berlin's most important railway stations, the biggest in Germany and at the time the biggest in Continental Europe. It was severely damaged in World War II and considered uneconomic to repair.
It served as a station without a roof for many years until finally closed to all traffic in 1952, then demolished
( thanks to Bing for photos, dated about 1938, and 1945 )
