Kon Tum (Vietnam) – Quand il n’y a pas grand-chose à photographier, il y a deux endroits où je vais dans les bidonvilles ou les rivières. À Kon Tum, pas de quartiers défavorisés. S’il y en a un, je ne l’ai pas trouvé. En revanche, il y a une rivière, la Dak Bla, dont le niveau était assez bas. Le paysage n’était pas déplaisant, sans être pour autant extraordinaire, comme j’avais pu le lire. En revanche, après une journée de canicule, la lumière de fin d’après-midi était assez photogénique. Ne restait plus qu’à trouver une présence humaine pour animer la scène que je m’apprêtais à capter. Il a fallu que je remonte la rive vers l’est pendant une bonne dizaine de minutes avant de tomber sur cette famille. L’homme tentait de démêler son épervier pour capturer de microscopiques poissons.

I had to walk up the bank towards the east for a good ten minutes before coming across this family. The man was trying to untangle his cast net to catch microscopic fish.
