La nuit tombe, le soleil se couche
Fort-Dauphin (Madagascar) - Il était temps ! Je suis arrivé juste pour voir les dernières lumières disparaitre sur la baie d’Ambinanibé, un quartier de Fort-Dauphin. Heureusement que les pêcheurs de ce village sont actifs bien après le coucher du soleil.
Un paysage aussi coloré soit-il m'intéresse rarement sans la présence d’au moins un élément humain. Dans quelques instants le jeune piroguier va échouer son embarcation sur la berge, alors que la femme et ses trois enfants auront terminé de se laver à l'eau de mer. Pour faire cette photo, il fallait faire vite.
Dans ce village il y a bien un puits à pompe pour capter l'eau douce, financé par une ONG, mais par manque d'entretien il est souvent en panne.
Quand j'ai pris cette image, à l'entrée du village, un camion citerne distribuait de l'eau potable suscitant presque qu'une émeute. L'eau potable étant un bien précieux, ici on évite de la gâcher, préférant l'abondance de l'eau de mer pour la toilette. Pour la cuisine, elle présente l’avantage d’être déjà salée.
Night falls, the sun sets
Fort-Dauphin (Madagascar) – It’s about time! I arrived just to see the last lights disappear on the bay of Ambinanibé, a district of Fort-Dauphin. Fortunately, the fishermen of this village are active well after sunset.
A landscape, however colorful it may be, rarely interests me if there is not at least one human element. In a few moments the young canoeist will beach his boat on the bank, while the woman and her three children will have finished washing themselves with sea water.
In this village there is a pump well to collect fresh water funded by an NGO, but due to lack of maintenance, it is often broken down.
When I took this photo, at the entrance to the village, a tanker truck was distributing drinking water, almost causing a riot. Drinking water being a precious asset, here we avoid wasting it, preferring the abundance of sea water for washing. For cooking, it has the advantage of being already salty.
