Dans la pénombre d’une maison malgache
Ambositra (Madagascar) - J'avais été invité à entrer dans une maison traditionnelle de la campagne malgache. Il n'y avait quasiment rien. Peu de mobilier, pas d'eau courante et encore moins d'électricité. Un "confort" à la malgache. Je suis monté prudemment à l'étage car dans la pénombre je n'y voyais rien. J’ai pénétré dans une pièce où un rayon de lumière entrait par une fenêtre sans vitre. C’est là que j'ai vu cet enfant qui regardait fixement devant lui. Il ne m'avait pas entendu arriver. J'ai été fasciné par ce visage à peine éclairé. Je me suis dit qu'en raison des conditions de luminosité il n'était pas possible de faire une photo. Je ne voulais pas réduire à néant la magie de cette scène en attirant son attention en modifiant les réglages de mon boitier. Heureusement, j'étais à 1600 iso car j'avais fait une photo au rez-de-chaussée dans une pièce déjà sombre où un cochon était allongé sous la table. J'ai tout misé sur ce rayon de lumière. J'ai fait deux photos. Le déclenchement à résonné dans la pièce et le garçon s’est tourné vers moi.
In the darkness of a Malagasy home
Ambositra (Madagascar) - I had been invited to enter a traditional house in the Malagasy countryside. There was almost nothing. Little furniture, no running water and even less electricity. Malagasy “comfort”. I cautiously went upstairs because in the darkness I couldn't see anything. I entered a room where a ray of light entered through a glassless window. That's when I saw this child staring fixedly in front of him. He hadn't heard me arrive. I was fascinated by this barely lit face. I told myself that due to the light conditions it was not possible to take a photo. I didn't want to destroy the magic of this scene by attracting his attention by changing the settings of my camera. Fortunately, I was at ISO 1600 because I had taken a photo downstairs in an already dark room where a pig was lying under the table. I bet everything on this ray of light. I took two photos. The camera shutter echoed in the room and the boy turned to me.
