Manque de chance -ou plutôt d’attention-, j’étais concentré sur la présence de la femme en haut à gauche du cadre que je voulais intégrer à tout prix dans la composition. Il fallait faire vite car elle n’est restée qu’une fraction de seconde à me regarder avant de disparaitre. Résultat, je n’ai pas prêté attention au coq qui venait de grimper sur le mur en brique à droite de l’image. Il est décapité. Voilà comment on rate une scène intéressante.
Si j’ai choisi une version N&B, c’est que ce jour là, le temps était gris et la brume enveloppait la ville. Une conjonction d’éléments qui ont piégé ma balance des blancs calée en automatique, se traduisant par une forte dominante jaune et un manque de contraste dû au brouillard. Plutôt que de passer trop de temps à retravailler sérieusement le tirage, je suis allé au plus simple avec ce N&B. Il y a des jours où on ferait mieux de ne pas prendre de photos pour éviter un sentiment de frustration.

Lack of luck -or rather lack of attention-, I was focused on the presence of the woman at the top left of the frame that I wanted to integrate into the composition at all costs. We had to hurry because she only stayed a fraction of a second looking at me before disappearing. Result, I did not pay attention to the rooster which had just climbed on the brick wall on the right of the image. Ultimately, he is beheaded. That's how you miss an interesting scene.
If I chose a B&W version, it is because that day, the weather was gray and the mist enveloped the neighborhood. A conjunction of elements that trapped my white balance set in automatic, resulting in a strong yellow cast and a lack of contrast due to the fog.
Rather than spending too much time to seriously rework this print, I gave up by going to the simplest with this B&W. There are days when it would be better not to take pictures to avoid a feeling of frustration.
