Competition rooster

Bali (Indonesia) - I don't like cockfighting. In Bali, it's a national sport. A friend who works for a trade travel magazine told me that if I had some pictures of the fights he could buy me some for his newspaper. The only restriction: no too bloody scenes. Since I did not see how to photograph bird fights without violence, I gave up on honoring this order.

I didn't think about it anymore when I ran into this man who was walking with his rooster along a road. Considering the size of the rooster and the care he gave him, I understood he was a fighter.

Despite the language barrier, I could understand that he was walking his champion like every day to keep him in shape ... Before getting plucked in the ring.
