The caterpillar

View On Black

The caterpillar…. Caterpillars are voracious feeders and many of them are considered pests however; one is curious to see what exactly this hideous larva will look like once it emerges from its cocoon. You know nothing of the caterpillar, only that it feeds and feeds and becomes a nuisance. Eventually it disappears and you think you had rid yourself of it only to see that it has taken a plateau of nonexistence. For a while you get accustom to this stagnate stage, taking for granted it doesn’t move, you are comfortable it’s not a nuisance any longer.

One day, something moves… your eyes widen and the cracks begin to form. Peering at the once plain brown casing you begin to see colors that are beyond your imagination. Carefully emerging is the butterfly. The butterfly is an insect with a slender body and brightly colored wings….. the colors radiant against the rays of the sun, drying out the tiny delicate wet wings.

Fluttering its wings the butterfly looks at you… and for a short moment you feel an intense pain as u see the fluttering picking up pace. Reaching out to this beautiful creation, hoping to hold it…. A gust of wind picks up and off it goes. A once nuisance, now the most beautiful thing you have ever seen is slowly disappearing into the bright glows of rays….. Warm wet pains emerge from the windows to the soul…………. It’s gone…
