Contrast
-Theme: Refraction
-Elements of Design: The black and white filter overtop of the image create a interesting value to the glass.
-Principles of Design: The contrast from the light grayish-white to the black around the glass makes you wonder about the background of the photo.
-Camera Settings: I used my cell phone flashlight to cast light and shadows over the dish and cup. I wanted there to be enough show of light to I raised the ISO to 1600 but dropped my shutter speed to 1/100 to capture enough light but at the same time keeping it on the darker side.
-Editing: Once in Lightroom, I used the brush tool to dropped the exposure towards the back of the photo and light the exposure on the pine cones in the cup and directly under the cup. I also added the black and white filter overtop of the image.
-Summary: This cup and plate was found at an antique store and my mother loves it. I placed my cell phone flashlight overtop of the glass to create a refraction of the flowered design on the side of the glass. I love the way this turned out because it shows every piece of the cup and plate in the photo.
