1. Briefly answer the following short questions to provide insight into the qualities of your typeface.
What is the gender of your typeface?
The gender of my typeface is female.
What is the age?
The age of my typeface is about 6 years old.
What type of person would your typeface be? (Describe them. What would they wear? Where would they shop? Etc.)
My little girl would be your all American girly girl. If you were to see her on a typical day, she would be wearing a pink sundress, sandals, and her hair would be in curly pigtails with rainbow bows in them. Since she is too young to go shopping, her mom would shop for her at a children’s boutique or something similar. She is a very creative little girl. She loves colors, unicorns, and baking. Even though her mom does most of the work by running the sweet shop, she inspired it and helps with the fun ideas.
2. What type of food does your eating establishment (restaurant/bistro/etc.) serve? Why? (How does it conceptually relate to your research and/or the formal qualities of your typeface?) This is the most important question. Carefully articulate your answer in complete sentences. Be specific and direct. (Imagine me asking you for further clarification…)
My establishment is a sweet shop so we serve everything and anything sweet. From cakes to pastries to candy to ice cream…we’ve got it. The reason I chose to do a sweet shop is because what 6 year old girl doesn’t love sweets? The font also has curly ends so it needs to be a fun, cute place that would catch a little girls attention if she were walking on the street. She would then beg her mom to take her in!
3. Describe your signature dish.
My signature dish is a tie dye cake shaped in my font’s “a” with a swirl mirror glaze coated on top. The colors of the cake and glaze are pink, purple, yellow & blue. Our signature drink is a strawberry milk served in a small glass milk jug with sprinkles around the top of the jug. And a pink and white striped straw is sticking out of the top.
4. What’s the price range of your business? (Is it ultra cheap fare, a 5 star dining experience…?)
The price range for my sweet shop is in the middle. My combo box which comes with a mini cookie cake, cotton candy, one stick of rocky candy, a bag of candy or chocolates, and a cookie dough truffle is $25. This is the most popular item. A slice of cake would be $4. An entire cake is $40. One cookie is $2. A dozen cookies or a cookie cake is $18. One truffle is $50. The candy would be done by weight therefore, more candy, more expensive.
5. Describe the interior of your business in detail. (You can include a few mood board images if you’d like.) Are the walls white? What type of napkin will I receive? Are the tables wood or 1950s diner style tables…? You get the idea. Set the stage in clear detail.
The interior of my sweet shop is very fun and playful. The walls would be light and dark pink stripes. The tables would be modern & white and the logo would be in the center of each table. The floors are a very pale blue. One whole corner of the shop is dedicated to candy. This is where you can grab a bag and fill it up with as much candy as you want. As you keep walking, you get to the bakery section where you can find fresh baked goods. In the back you find the ice cream, which is always a big hit. All baked goods ordered will be served in a pastel colored to go box with the logo on the front. You can choose to take this home with you or go sit at a table and enjoy.
Critique:
The critique I received in class was to make a different type of icing for the outside of my cake, because it was a little gummy. Also I need to make my colors brighter to go with my color scheme. They letter shape itself looked good though.
