Pulling for the prize

The Glengarry Highland Games, in Manville Ontario, are the North American Championships, with bands from as far afield as New Mexico and Florida. Over three days, there are a multitude of colourful events and the constant skirl of over 54 pipe bands. Competing for individual and band awards. Add to this the fiddlers, highland dancing competitions and the opening Tattoo and mass pipes and drums of the closing ceremony (over a thousand pipers and drummers - and it's a photographers delight.

 

Yesterday, soldiers of Canada's sixteen Highland Regiments, of the Canadian Army Reserve (Militia) competed at the Glengarry Highland Games in Maxville Ontario, in the Highlanders Tug o' War Challenge. The cup was won by the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa.
