Happy feast of goodness and purification - the Bright Epiphany of the Lord!!!!
On January 18, the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates Epiphany Eve, the evening before one of the 12 main Christian holidays, Epiphany. The celebration is dedicated to the baptism of Jesus Christ by John the Baptist in the Jordan River. And on January 19, believers celebrate the feast of Epiphany or Epiphany itself. The event marked the beginning of Christ's ministry to people and the beginning of the New Testament. On Epiphany night, it is customary to collect the consecrated water in the temple or the consecrated Jordan and bring it home. Some people plunge into the ice hole on this day to cleanse themselves of sins and strengthen their health for the whole year, however, the priests remind that bathing in an ice hole has little to do with the sacrament of Baptism....Dear friends!
