Originally at this location, there was a working well for the villagers to collect their water. As time went by the traffic levels increased and cars collided with this ancient well. After it was so badly damaged, the well was not used after mains water was connected to all the village properties. Eventually the remains of the well structure was moved further back on to the green near the war memorial . This solved the problem, and this layout was put in place where the well used to be in place .
