A brand new house replacing a demolished bungalow "Ponderosa"
This large new house has replaced a former demolished bungalow that was mostly built by Archie Martin a master carpenter, who lived in it by himself for many years until he passed away. Archie was one of the sons of the Martin family who resided next door in the previous property then, the Village Post Office & Stores. The Post Office was run by Mrs Martin when I started delivering to this area in 1962. The other son , Joe Martin & his family, lived in number 7 Council Houses, (now re-named Ash Copse ) further down the road. I re-visited the area in May 2011 to snap this photo . None of the surviving members of the Martin family now remain living in Dunsden. I know that there is no Post Office operating in this village at all now, so the nearest now should be in Binfield Heath 2 miles away, or in Henley Road Caversham.
