Manchester Liverpool Road Railway Station

The view of the historic and former Liverpool Road Railway Station, in Manchester.

Liverpool Road Railway Station first opened on 15th September 1830, and was the world's first passenger railway station terminus between Liverpool and Manchester.

The Liverpool - Manchester line was designed and built by George Stephenson.

Liverpool Road station closed to passengers in 1844, after trains were diverted to the Manchester and Leeds Railway towards Manchester Victoria, and closed (as a goods yard) completely in 1975.

Today, the Liverpool Road station is now part of the Manchester Science & Industry Museum, and is currently a Grade I Listed building.

The Liverpool - Manchester line still runs and exists today, what's known as the Chat Moss Line, which was electrified for electric train operations as of 2014-2016.

In the distance, the newly built Ordsall Chord can be seen over parts of the old Liverpool Road Railway Station / Track.
