Manchester - Castlefield Viaduct

The view of (below the) Castlefield Viaduct, in Manchester.

The Viaducts above were used as railway lines connecting Manchester Central Railway Station. Today, Manchester Central Railway Station is now a convention centre. Parts of the viaduct are still used for Metrolink tram services towards Altrincham, Eccles, East Didsbury, MediaCityUK, Manchester Airport and Trafford Centre.

Parts of the Manchester, South Junction and Altrincham Railway bridge can be seen. This bridge originally linked Manchester and Deansgate Castlefield with Altrincham via Trafford, Timperley and Sale, before the line was converted into Metrolink tram services.

Today, this line is now used for Manchester - Liverpool Lime Street via Warrington Central services as part of the 'Cheshire Lines Committee' route.

The area of Castlefield Viaduct was recently used as a film set for the latest (and finale) of the BBC drama show 'Peaky Blinders'.
