Manchester - Bridgewater Canal Tow Path

The view of (below the) Castlefield Viaduct and Bridgewater Canal Tow Path, in Manchester.

The Viaducts above were used as railway lines connecting Manchester Central Railway Station. Today, Manchester Central Railway Station is now a convention centre. Parts of the viaduct are still used for Metrolink tram services towards Altrincham, Eccles, East Didsbury, MediaCityUK, Manchester Airport and Trafford Centre.

The Windsor Link line (linking Deansgate Castlefield with Salford Crescent, Eccles, and Manchester Victoria), can be seen in the distance. This line was opened in 1985 and was recently electrified as of 2018.

Parts of the Bridgewater Canal be seen below this little bridge.

The area of Castlefield Viaduct was recently used as a film set for the latest (and finale) of the BBC drama show 'Peaky Blinders'.
