Wilmslow Railway Station

A view of Wilmslow Railway Station, facing in the direction towards Alderley Edge, Crewe, Birmingham, Cardiff, London and beyond.

In the foreground, platforms 1 and 2 are for services to and from the Styal line, West Coast Mainline and Manchester Airport/Piccadilly.

In the background, platforms 3 and 4 are for services to and from the West Coast Mainline, Stockport and Manchester Piccadilly.

The former signal box was originally located here at this part of the station and was a major signal box for the West Coast Mainline. As part of the West Coast Modernisation programme in the early noughties (2000s), the signal box was eventually discontinued and removed / demolished.

A Virgin Trains Class 390 'Pendolino' (390039) can be seen in the distance with a Manchester Piccadilly - London Euston service.

This photograph was originally taken on 20th April 2019.
