From this point, the unit switches from Electric to Diesel mode, as it is built as a Bi-Mode train, as the overhead wires currently go as far as Manchester Victoria from Liverpool. It then switches back to Electric mode once it reaches York.
Once the Transpennine Route Upgrade electrifies most of (if not, all) of the route between Manchester - Leeds, and Leeds - York, this should then allow more direct electric running.
