Huddersfield - Victoria Tower (Castle Hill)

Looking up towards Victoria Tower, situated on top of Castle Hill, in Huddersfield.

Originally built in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, Victoria Tower stands on a former fort that was situated on this hilltop, with settlements dating back as far as 4000 years ago.

Today, Victoria Tower is a Grade II listed building and is maintained by Kirklees Museums & Galleries.

Due to the strong high winds forecasted on this day, access to the tower (including the top of the tower) was closed.
