Manchester - Manchester Central

The outside view of the former railway station, now exhibition centre, Manchester Central.

This railway station was one of Manchester's main railway stations in the city and was used to have trains running from Liverpool, Chester, the East Midlands and London St Pancras, before it was closed down in 1969.

In 1963, it became a Grade II Listed building.

In 1986, it was redeveloped and converted into an exhibition and conference centre, becoming Manchester GMEX (Greater Manchester Exhibition).

In 1992, Metrolink trams began using old track bed of the former railway station to allow connections to Cornbrook, Altrincham and beyond.

In 2007, Manchester GMEX was renamed to Manchester Central.
