Glowworm tunnel
Glowworms are bioluminescent (‘glow in the dark’) bugs that are found only in Australia and New Zealand. They are not actually worms, but the larvae of a primitive fly, the fungus gnat. They emit blue-green light in order to attract small insects, which become entangled in webs that the larvae spin. These particular specimens live in an abandoned railway tunnel in Helensburgh, New South Wales.
