Ferdinand III, ou saint Ferdinand de Castille, est roi de Castille et de Tolède de 1217 à 1252, et roi de León et de Galice de 1230 à 1252. Né probablement en 1199 au monastère de Valparaíso, à Peleas de Arriba .

Militairement ensuite, Ferdinand III fait progresser la reconquête du Sud de la péninsule Ibérique.(Reconquête de la région du haut Guadalquivir puis de Cordoue, Murcie et Jaén pour finir par Séville. Son action couronnée de succès lui vaut d'être canonisé en 1671.
Mort le 30 ou le 31 mai 1252 à Séville, c'est un saint fêté le 30 mai.

Militarily then, Ferdinand III advanced the reconquest of the South of the Iberian Peninsula. (Reconquest of the upper Guadalquivir region then of Córdoba, Murcia and Jaén, ending with Seville. His successful action led to his being canonized in 1671.
Died on May 30 or 31, 1252 in Seville, he is a saint celebrated on May 30.
