Yakima Project.
Bureau of Reclamation's first female Commissioner, Brenda Burman, visited the Yakima area to learn more about the Yakima Basin Integrated Plan, which is a model for cooperative and sustainable water management in an area with shifting hydrologic conditions (more rain instead of snow, drought, population increase). Wendy Christensen gives a tour of the secant construction, which is being built in preparation to construct the Helix Fish Passage structure. The secant is a very large oval-shaped hole that is stabilized by a concrete wall.
