Aerial photo of construction of the Cle Elum Fish Passage Facilities at Cle Elum Dam in the Yakima Basin.
In this shot: Cle Elum Dam spillway with the interim fish passage; construction area where the tunnel is being drilled that will travel from the helix to the river.
These fish passage facilities, including the helix structure, will provide fish access to historic habitat and restore biodiversity and the natural production of anadromous salmonids in the upper Cle Elum subbasin including sockeye, coho and spring Chinook salmon, and Pacific lamprey. The project would also contribute to the recovery of two species listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act—the upper Middle Columbia River steelhead and bull trout.
