Funded through $21 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) dollars, the Sunnyside Irrigation District piped over 60 open canals, laterals, and ditches. The piping conserves water and improves water delivery efficiency. Water savings will add approximately 17,000 acre-feet to the Yakima River for instream flows needed for ESA listed fish. The work was completed in August 2011.
