Centre second chronograph pocket watch

This pocket watch is by H. Samuel of Manchester and is hallmark for Chester witch dates it to 1884. The silver case was made by Alfred Gurney of Smithfield Street Coventry.

W.D. & H.O. Wills was a British tobacco importer and manufacturer formed in Bristol, England. It was the first UK company to mass-produce cigarettes. It was one of the founding companies of Imperial Tobacco along with John Player & Sons. The tin you see in the photograph would have held fifty cigarettes.

The coin has a bearded bust of President Johannes Paulus Kruger on one side and on the other the coat of arms of the South African Republic circled by legend, date and denomination. These coins contain 0.336 troy ounces of silver, so they can never be worth less than their silver value.
