Yesterday I was honored to be interviewed for a book on Acting. I had a very interesting discussion with the author who raised the point that us actors can't afford to be sensitive about our appearance. Some good advice to give actors starting out in the biz is this: Pick the feature about you that you hate the most, that you're the most self conscious about and understand that this will define how you are cast. Casting directors and agents will blatantly refer to this feature and cast you accordingly. With me, my long thin face and pointy nose often have me cast as the Evil Character. I've learned to love this and prefer to be a villain over a princess. (Although my mother always wants to know why I'm never the princess) .....Not an easy profession but one we do cause we love it...No other reason.
