Litonotus cygnus is a species of ciliate protozoan. It belongs to the Litonotidae family, Gymnostomatea class, Ciliophora phylum, and Chromista kingdom.

 

The body of a Litonotus is laterally flattened, with the ventral and dorsal surfaces becoming virtual edges. The mouth opens on the left edge, and the somatic ciliature is arranged mainly along kineties on the right side.
