the laws of refraction (v.2)

For Round #10 of "Get Pushed" I was paired with the talented Karen/k4♥wea (if you haven't visited her wonderful stream, get on over and see her high key magic) who threw down a technical challenge:

"Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to do a refracted image shot. The image can be refracted in anything from a marble or crystal ball to a water droplet."

And as I post this in the the 11'th hour, let me say that this was the challenge that had me nearest to throwing in the towel. I'm not a terribly technical sort when it comes to photography (yes, I freely admit this). And sorry to disappoint, but I don't own one of the magical crystal balls that I usually associate with a cool refraction shot. Quite frankly, the longer I sat on this this challenge the more clueless I was feeling. But...well...you've probably figured out by now that I'm also a masochistic fool, so off to google I went, damned if I'd let a little thing like not knowing what the heck I'm doing stop me.

"Refraction:" The bending of a wave, such as a light or sound wave, as it passes from one medium to another medium of different density. - TheFreeDictionary.com

"Refraction:" The trippy stuff you can make water do. - TheElizabethDictionary (equally free)

Thanks for the great challenge Karen. It was a push indeed, but that's just what the self-confessed non-technical, needs from time to time.
