Star Brewery, Boston

Otto C. Wolf executed this 100,000 barrel modern ale brewery for the Star Brewing Co., Boston, in 1896. Brewing commenced just eight months after breaking ground. The brew house had a 300-barrel kettle and refrigeration was supplied by a 50-ton De La Vergne machine.

"...The buildings are of dark red bick, laid in red mortar, with granite trimmings, the interior construction of the main building is of iron staircases, etc. ...Built to adjoin one another, the different departments of the brewing plant are in close proximity, and may be operated with the least number of employees, machinery, as far as possible, taking the place of manual labor"
